About the Program
The Beyond Barriers program is a 2025 Beyond the Bell initiative created to close critical public school funding gaps across South West Victoria schools. Designed in response to widespread socio-economic disadvantage, this initiative delivers flexible, targeted education support to ensure no student is left behind due to financial hardship.
By covering essential education needs, including uniforms, books, transport, emergency school supplies, and small student-led inclusivity projects Beyond Barriers plays a vital role in removing barriers to education. The program helps schools keep students engaged, connected, and fully supported in their learning journey.
Funded by the Waratah Education Public Ancillary Fund, this initiative reflects a strong regional commitment to equity in education and enhancing access to learning opportunities for every young person, regardless of background.
What We Do
The Beyond Barriers program provides small grants for small schools to help reduce financial barriers to education and strengthen student engagement and wellbeing in government schools across South West Victoria.
These Beyond Barriers grants support small schools in responding quickly and effectively to real-world challenges that affect learning.
Application Process
School administration staff can submit an enquiry to request the school grant application form. Applications are assessed based on the program’s core goals, with priority given to initiatives that support students facing disadvantage and promote equity in education.
