Beyond the Bell has received funding to keep students aged 12 to 19 years engaged with their education and employment pathways.
Funding from the Federal Government Safer Communities Fund will ensure the ‘Future Me’ (formerly ReConnect Me) program will be able to work with students who are at risk of disengaging from school.
BtB’s chairman Francis Broekman said ‘Future Me’ was a collaborative partnership working with different organisations and schools designed to keep students engaged at secondary school, or to find a pathway to other education or employment.
“It’s a completely new program,” he said.
“There’s been two years now that many of the young people have had a very disrupted schooling.”
The ‘Future Me’ program will work with two different student cohorts:
12 to 14 years: This cohort will focus on fostering future careers, and investigating how their current schooling is connected to future goals and employment opportunities.
15 to 19 years: This cohort focuses more comprehensively on individual career pathways post-school, including the education and training pathways to their chosen careers. They will also identify their current strengths and build self-efficacy in applying these in the workplace.
